What the service includes

Around 130,000 couples have taken advantage of the freedom offered by a Marie Stopes International vasectomy service, making us one of the most experienced organisations in the field.

Our comprehensive vasectomy package includes:

• Initial consultation
• vasectomy procedure (usually same day)
• all aftercare
• follow-up semen checks with a rapid results service

Booking is fast and flexible: appointments are usually available within one to four weeks. On the day of the appointment, clients normally only spend about an hour at the centre. Our booking service will let the man know where the centres are so he can choose which one to attend.

Consultation

All clients have a consultation where a full medical history is taken and discussion about the procedure and clients decision. We do not refuse clients under 25 but we do advise that they have counselling before proceeding.

Procedure

• experienced surgeons perform the procedure
• a local anaesthetic is used
• a 'no scalpel cautery' technique used
• no stitches are required
• the procedure takes less than 15 minutes

Aftercare

All aftercare is included. Written aftercare information is given to every client and clients can call clients can call for advice and help 24 hours. Semen testing takes place at 12 and 14 weeks post treatment. Samples are analysed to ensure that the seminal fluid is free from sperm. We will notify the client when his sample is clear. there Is also an online results service.

Marie Stopes International welcomes both private clients and those funded by the NHS where their local primary care trust has a service agreement with us.
