Chlamydia tests
Chlamydia is a common, treatable, sexually transmitted infection . However, because many people do not experience any symptoms, both men and women can carry the infection without knowing it. It is estimated that 1 in 10 young people have a chlamydia infection, but it can affect anyone at any age. Left untreated, chlamydia can cause serious problems, including infertility.
Chlamydia can be tested by a cervical swab or simple urine test at a Marie Stopes International Centre . If your test results show that you have the infection, it is easily treated with a course of antibiotics.
Our Chlamydia testing service also includes antibiotic treatment for positive results. You can pop into one of our centres for a simple urine test or ask us for a postal chlamydia pack . You just send us your sample and we contact you with the result. Our service is totally confidential. Results are also made available at the Marie Stopes International chlamydia results online service for your convenience.
All Marie Stopes International centres provide chlamydia testing. For more details or to arrange a postal test contact: 0845 120 3641. Go to the Chlamydia test and fees page for more information.
Please note: if you are found to have chlamydia and you are in a relationship, it is vital that your partner is treated at the same time. It is almost certain that you will both have the infection - so if only one of you receives treatment, the other will simply pass the infection back again.
If you are worried that you may have a sexually transmitted infection see our section on STI’s for more details. We are able to provide a full STI service at Marie Stopes International South London Centre .
Alternatively you can arrange an appointment at a GUM (Genito Urinary Medicine) clinic to have a full screen. Also if your chlamydia test is positive, have a full sexually transmitted infection check as well. The link below will tell you where your local GUM clinic is.
