London, 26 November 2010:  Marie Stopes International (MSI) welcomes Dr Babatunde Osotimehin to the position of Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

“Dr. Osotimehin takes office at a time of great opportunity for the issues of family planning and other reproductive health needs,” Hovig continued. “MSI’s experience across 43 countries in recent years has demonstrated that innovative partnerships between governments and the non-state sector can dramatically improve reproductive health outcomes. We look forward to working with Dr. Osotimehin and UNFPA to forge more such partnerships in the years ahead so we meet the enormous unmet need for family planning and eradicate unsafe abortion.”
