About Marie Stopes United Kingdom

Marie Stopes UK is the leading independent provider of sexual and reproductive health services.

Our team of highly skilled doctors, nurses, counsellors and health care assistants provide reproductive and sexual health services through the NHS for over 100,000 women and men every year in our network of clinics around the UK.

Our clients’ care and wellbeing are our driving passions, and we’re proud to say that 98% give our service the highest ratings. From the moment someone dials our number or walks through our door, they’re in safe, caring hands. Everything we do is based on our respect for our clients’ individual needs, their time, confidentiality and dignity.

Thanks to the skill and expertise of our staff, our clinical abortion and vasectomy services are the highest quality and the safest in the country. We have an excellent compliance record with the Care Quality Commission.

Women using our services in the UK tell us that our free contraception consultation with choice of method is hugely helpful and very important to them. About 50% more women leave us with the peace of mind and on-going protection of longer acting, more reliable methods of contraception than other community NHS contraception services.

We offer sexual health screening, and advice or counselling services through our 24 hour helpline making us a truly integrated service, available day or night, every day of the year whenever our clients need us.

In 1973, our founder, visionary doctor Tim Black, stepped in to save the Marie Stopes Clinic in central London from which our clinic network grew, and our mission has always been children by choice, not chance.

Our International Impact

Marie Stopes International works in almost 40 countries around the world providing life-saving services to millions of women in greatest need. It is thanks to the generosity of donors and funders who believe in what we do, that we were able to prevent 16,100 maternal deaths last year , and provide contraception for 18.1 million women world-wide.
