Are you looking for abortion advice?

At MSI Reproductive Choices UK we provide counselling services for anyone who would like to talk through their abortion options before booking their consultation appointment.

Counselling is the process of talking through your worries or questions with a qualified professional. It is a form of talking therapy that lets you discuss your feelings in a confidential and non-judgemental environment.

Nearly one in three pregnancies ends in an abortion worldwide. You are not alone.

Nearly one in three pregnancies ends in an abortion worldwide. Yet, this aspect of healthcare is not often talked about in every day conversation. Abortion stigma can make some people feel like their decision must be kept secret and silent, but our counsellors are here for you: counselling is available over the phone, at a time that suits you.

Should I get an abortion?

The counselling team at MSI Reproductive Choices UK are highly trained, experienced, and qualified to help you explore and manage your thoughts, feelings, and options as your make decisions about your care.

It’s important to know that our counsellors don’t offer you advice, but instead help you deal with issues and realise your coping strategies.

No matter what you’re struggling with, our independent counsellors will enable you to make the decision that’s right for you.

We have both male and female counsellors in our team. If you would be more comfortable talking to a counsellor of a specific sex, please let us know when you call to arrange the appointment.

What is an abortion or “termination of pregnancy”?

An abortion is the deliberate medical process of ending a pregnancy. An abortion is also known as a ‘termination’ or ‘termination of pregnancy‘. At MSI Reproductive Choices UK we offer two types of abortion care: medical abortion (abortion pills) and surgical abortion.

If you’d like to talk through your options, call us on 0345 300 8090 for a confidential chat.

Are abortions safe?

Abortion is very safe, when performed in a Department of Health and Care Quality Commission registered clinic, with specialists performing approved treatment, like at MSI Reproductive Choices UK.

Which abortion is right for me? Types of abortion

The type of procedure you can be offered will depend on a few personal factors. Your gestation (how many weeks pregnant you are), past medical history, gynaecological history, medications and personal choice will all help determine which method is best for you.

How do I book an abortion on the NHS?

98% of MSI Reproductive Choices UK abortions in the UK are funded by the NHS. This means that there will be no cost to you for your abortion.

You don’t need a GP referral to access NHS-funded abortion care. You can self-refer by contacting us directly on 0345 300 8090.

Providing that your pregnancy is less than 24 weeks, we can provide you with a NHS funded abortion. The package of care which you will receive will include:

1. Access to our 24/7 call centre to book your appointments
2. Initial telephone consultation with our dedicated health advisors
3. Telephone or face to face consultation with a member of our nursing and midwifery team
4. A choice of over 60 locations for treatment
5. Early Medical Abortion pills if your pregnancy is less that 10 weeks. These can be provided through our telemedicine service or during a face to face consultation
6. Surgical Abortion (including anaesthetic) at one of our specialist centres
7. Testing for common sexually transmitted infections
8. An opportunity to access telephone or face to face counselling services to ensure you feel supported.
9. Access to a wide range of contraception options.
10. A dedicated 24/7 telephone advice line where you can speak with a member of our nursing and midwifery team.
11. Free pregnancy testing following your abortion treatment
12. Comprehensive follow up for any post treatment queries, either over the telephone or face to face at a specialist clinic.

Call our advice line to make a booking: 0345 300 8090.

The first appointment to arrange will be your consultation, which includes an assessment of your medical history and discussion of treatment options. In most cases, consultations can take place over the telephone.

Remember: if you feel you need emotional support at any point, we offer counselling sessions over the phone.

What is the “At home abortion pills” service?

Dr Yvonne Neubauer is MSI Reproductive Choices UK’s Associate Clinical Director: she is passionate about delivering safe abortion care to all pregnant people considering this option.

In this video she explains how the “At home abortion pills” service works: if you are eligible for this type of abortion, you would be able to receive your pills by post.

Our network of over 60 clinics is also still open for anyone who is not eligible for this option and needs, or prefers, to attend a clinic to receive face-to-face care.

“The nurse in charge of my care was so caring and understanding and made everything a whole lot easier for me.”
