I found out I was pregnant at the beginning of May, and I was a mess. I told my long term partner and we both decided even though both in our late 20’s we just weren’t ready for a child and we certainly weren’t ready to be parents yet.
I have always been careful, by taking the pill but due to lockdown and my normal routine out of the window I forgot a few but I didn’t think this would matter as it has happened before and I’d been fine.
However not on this occasion, it was a sunday we found out and we knew the first thing we needed to do was to contact my local gp as I had no idea where to go. She was very understanding and gave me the number of MSI. I called them straight away, the minute I was in contact with them they made me feel at ease and they didn’t judge.
“I chose to take one tablet in clinic and the other four at home the next day. I took them at home and it started within an hour, not gonna lie two hours of cramping and heavy bleeding but I was so pleased to be able to do this at home.”
The day arrived and I was feeling very nervous and apprehensive as I didn’t know what to expect. However my nurse was amazing and went through all of the relevant paperwork and made me feel at ease.
First I had to have a scan to see how far I was and I was 6 weeks so I was able to have the medical abortion. It’s now been 48 hours since I started the process and I do still have slight cramping and bleeding like a heavy period but it’s manageable.
Anybody in a situation like me, then please don’t be afraid it isn’t as bad as you may think.
