Marie Stopes UK is excited to launch new and unique external training opportunities: our "Essential Contraception for Abortion Care Providers" course, produced by the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (FSRH), is open to all Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registered delegates currently working, or planning to work in the abortion sector and who are eager to expand their knowledge and expertise in the field.

This is a fantastic opportunity for participants to enhance and improve clinical practice, by learning from evidence based approaches and guidance. The course is not competency-based or assessed, as it has been designed and tailored to give an introduction and basic level understanding of contraception in abortion care settings.

All training materials are provided, including a take home workbook to give delegates the knowledge and confidence to discuss contraceptive choices with clients.

    • Identify contraindications to contraceptive methods by using the UKMEC
    • Understand when contraception can be started after pregnancy
    • Introduce contraception into consultations with pregnant and recently delivered women
