What is abortion?
Every woman has the right to make her own choice about whether to terminate or continue with a pregnancy. If a woman feels that an abortion is in her or her family's best interests, then she should have access to safe, supportive and non-judgmental advice and help.
Methods of abortion
At Marie Stopes UK, we offer two kinds of abortions: surgical abortion and medical abortion.
Medical abortion involves taking two sets of tablets to end a pregnancy. It's available before 9 weeks of pregnancy. Find out more about medical abortion.
Surgical abortion involves a local or general anaesthetic and/or sedation, and a minor operation to remove the pregnancy tissue. Find out more about surgical abortion.
